چکیده
ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance, cooking time and postharvest conservation roots sweet cassava clones, select those superior Manteiga variety control, in Baixo Sul region Bahia state. A randomized block design split plot scheme, with three replications used. Eleven genotypes were evaluated at 10 12 months after planting. Considering mean two harvests, BRS Kiriris Saracura showed total root yield (39.85 33.91 t ha−1, respectively) commercial (26.54 26.71 ha−1) that are higher compared (total yield: 28.06 16.95 ha−1). However, both had (26.76 28.30 min, than (23.89 min), unstable regarding percentage between (91.67%) (50%). Aipim Brasil, 2003 14-11, Kiriris, Eucalipto, more tolerant physiological deterioration. Although some clones presented good performance traits, by analyzing set none them shows sufficient superiority be indicated as a potential substitute for Manteiga, grown

Retention of total carotenoid and β-carotene in yellow sweet cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) after domestic cooking
BACKGROUND Over the last decade, considerable efforts have been made to identify cassava cultivars to improve the vitamin A nutritional status of undernourished populations, especially in northeast Brazil, where cassava is one of the principal and essentially only nutritional source. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the total carotenoid, β-carotene, and its all-E-, 9-, and 13-...

Genetic diversity of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz), obtained by open or controlled pollination and selection, as well as from germplasm introductions from abroad, is being conserved, both in the field and in an in vitro gene bank. Nine hundred and eighty five germplasm accessions are being conserved under slow-growth conditions using an osmotic retardant medium. The major thrust given in t...
متن کاملOptimisation of in Vitro Techniques for Cassava Brown Streak Virus Elimination from Infected Cassava Clones
Cassava brown streak disease (CBSD), caused by Cassava brown streak virus (CBSV), is an economically important disease of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) in East Africa. The objective of this study was to optimise in vitro techniques for CBSV elimination from infected Ugandan cassava cultivars. Using semi-solid halfstrength Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium, hormone concentration and hea...
متن کاملBeta-lactamase reporter system for selecting high-producing yeast clones.
In modern production of protein biopharmaceuticals, a good screening and selection method of high-producing clones can dramatically influence the whole production process and lead to lower production costs. We have created a rapid, simple, and inexpensive method for selecting high-producing clones in the yeast Pichia pastoris that is based on the beta-lactamase reporter system. By integrating t...
